Preschool Explorers

Welcome to Preschool Explorers! Every Monday brings a new adventure as children rotate between Learning Explorers, Creative Explorers, and Reading Explorers. Designed for potty-trained children aged 2+, this program encourages curiosity, creativity, and discovery through hands-on activities, stories, crafts, music, movement, games, and imaginative play. With something new to explore each week, children will develop friendships, confidence, and important early learning skills in a safe and engaging environment. Program runs from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the Community Hall of the Nick Smith Centre.

Each Monday rotates between three themes:

Learning Explorers - Drop in for Learning Explorers! Designed for curious young minds, this hands-on program encourages children to build fine motor skills, confidence, and independence. Each week, we will discover a new skill while learning, creating, and exploring in a fun and supportive environment.

Creative Explorers - Drop in for Creative Explorers! Get ready to move, make music, and let your creativity shine! Children will enjoy a mix of instrument play, musical activities, and freestyle dance classes. Each week brings a new adventure filled with fun, imagination, and self-expression.

Reading Explorers - Drop in for Reading Explorers! We're excited to partner with the Arnprior Public Library to offer a morning filled with stories and interactive circle time activities. Children will explore new books, build early literacy skills, and enjoy a fun and welcoming environment each week.

What do we do during the program?

A preschool classic, arts and crafts often follow a theme of the season. We've done Valentine's Day crafts, Mother's and Father's Day, Easter, Christmas and many more! You'll be sure to have lots of creations to pin to the fridge.

With loads of toy cars, climbers, slides, balls and more, there will be lots of active time for the little ones to burn some energy. There is time allotted for free play and time for more structured play to embrace both creativity with team work and collaboration.

Music and Dance

Music speaks to many so that's a big part of our program. With dance parties and freeze dance in the schedule and little instruments to make your own music to, there is sure to be a wonderful sound to Preschool Explorers.

Outdoor Play

Running programming out of a recreational facility has its' perks. We are fortunate to have a playstructure on site that we frequently visit as well as a large piece of grass that we can do activities on. Of course, outdoor play is weather dependent

Preschoolers having a snack

The growing kids need a snack so we always make sure to allow snack time during the session. We require parents to pack nut-free snacks and notify us of any allergies to ensure the safety of all participants.

Preschoolers gathering for story time

Who doesn't love a good story? There are many books on hand to provide a quieter, slower paced story time during the session. Kids can help select which story they want to hear.

Where does this program happen?

Community Hall at the Nick Smith Centre
We have a large Community Hall in the Nick Smith Centre that provides us a safe and secure area to run these activities.

With bathrooms right in the hall area, we are able to run frequent trips. We store our equipment in this room as well which means for full supervision even during activity changeover.
