  • Nick Smith Centre Arena May Update

    Glenn Arthur Arena: The demolition of the arena slab is complete, roof trusses have been scraped and repainted and the subgrade has been prepared to begin rebuilding the arena surface. Structural steel has been placed for the new windows to overlook this arena.

  • Nick Smith Centre Arena Update April

    he reconstruction in both arenas is now well underway!

    Upon removing the concrete from Glenn Arthur Arena, it was great to see that minimal settling had occurred in the last 48 years. The existing clear stone subbase for the concrete slab, while fantastic for mitigating the effects of frost, did not compact to modern standards so a layer of gravel had to be brought in and compacted over top of the clear stone to ensure that the new concrete slab would meet expectations for durability.
