Waste Collection Changes as of January 1, 2026
Starting in January 2026, recycling Blue Box program will be managed by Miller Waste Systems. This change in service is occurring as Ontario fully transitions recycling to a producer responsibility system.

The province will also be switching to an enhanced recycling system which will change what and how items are sorted for recycling:
- Plant pots can now be included in the containers bin
- Foam containers: meat trays, take out containers, cups, and foam packaging can be included in your containers bin
- Plastic films (such as plastic bags) can be recycled in your fibre bin
- Books and cookware are not accepted

Residential collection
- Garbage and recycling bins must be at the curb by 7:00 am instead of 7:30 am.
- The collection week will remain unchanged from current alternation between Fibres (paper) and Containers (plastic, glass, and metal) and the collection day will depend on your section of Town.

Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) Collection
- Your Blue Box materials will be collected separate from residential.
- ICI locations collection will occur on Fridays, beginning January 9th, regardless of your location on the schedule map. Collections that land on a Friday Holiday will be collected the day before the Holiday.
- Garbage and recycling bins must be at the curb by 7:00 am instead of 7:30 am (9:30 am if located in the downtown core)
- The collection week will remain unchanged from current alternation between Fibres (paper) and Containers (plastic, glass, and metal).
- Good Friday (April 3rd, 2026) and Christmas Day (December 25th, 2026) will be collected on the Thursday prior to each date, as opposed to Friday.
