Kirk Orthodontics Skate Park Officially Opens

Today, the Town of Arnprior officially opened the Kirk Orthodontics Skate Park at 67 James Street. Mayor Lisa McGee was joined by members of Council, members of the Arnprior Skateboard Association (ASA), park sponsor Dr. Chris and Dr. Danae Kirk from Kirk Orthodontics, Skate for Life sponsors and many local skaters to cut the ribbon on the Town’s newest recreation feature – an 8,512 square foot concrete skate park.

At the Grand Opening, Mayor McGee said, “This project is a shining example of ‘for the community, by the community’. From the dedication of the Arnprior Skateboard Association, to the generosity of local sponsors, and the community input received through our Parks and Recreation Master Plan, this skate park truly reflects the passion and commitment of Arnprior residents.”

Since its formation in 2020, the Arnprior Skateboard Association (ASA) has been working with the Town of Arnprior on their vision of a new and improved skate park, delivering skateboard lessons, special events, fundraisers and securing sponsorship opportunities to bring this dream to life. Through their fundraising efforts, the ASA contributed $17,500 to this project.

Earlier this summer,
Dr. Chris and Dr. Danae Kirk of Kirk Orthodontics stepped forward in a big way with a $25,000 naming-rights sponsorship of the skate park, which will officially be known as the Kirk Orthodontics Skate Park. This investment enabled a 732-square-foot expansion of the original skate park design, providing users with more space and additional features to enjoy.

The new location, budget and timeline for a new skate park were captured through the Town’s Recreation and Parks Master Plan (2024). This park is located adjacent to the Nick Smith Centre, providing access to parking, public washrooms, water and a place to cool off inside the Centre.

This Skate Park Design-Build project was completed by Papillon Skate Parc Inc.

Special thanks to DJ Davey for providing tunes for tonight’s grand opening and to Domino's and Mallard’s Milk Bar for feeding an excited group of skaters.

The Kirk Orthodontics Skate Park is open daily from dawn until dusk (9:30 pm).
