Council Highlights - September 25th, 2023

Public Meetings
Council held three (3) public meetings to hear comments from the public regarding:
- Zoning By-Law Amendment No. 2/23 - Marshall’s Bay Meadows (Phases 4 and 5)
- Zoning By-Law Amendment No. 3/23 - 128 Mary Street
- Zoning By-Law Amendment No. 4/23 - 375 Daniel Street South
Housing Needs Assessment Presentation
Council received the Housing Needs Assessment Study prepared by Re/Fact Consulting. Some of the highlights from the study included:
- Accommodating growth and associated needs as they change over time
- Diversifying housing options to better address these needs
- Improving affordability, especially where there are gaps in the local market
- Creating a more conductive regulatory environment
- Providing and leveraging incentives for housing
- Fostering partnerships and collaboration among stakeholders
- Coordinating and aligning the efforts of government partners
- Facilitating the necessary infrastructure to support growth
Request for Public Meetings
Council received reports from staff regarding (3) planning applications requiring a public meeting under the Planning Act. The public meeting to receive public input into the applications will be held on Monday, October 23rd, 2023 at the regular meeting of council.
- Official Plan Amendment #7 and implementing Zoning By-law Amendment 5/23– 0 Arthur Street
- Zoning By-law Amendment 6/23 – 50 Carss Street
- Official Plan Amendment # 8 and implementing Zoning By-law Amendment 7/23 – Norma/Charlotte Street
Grants Awarded
Council approved a request from the Arnprior Lions Club to provide in-kind support through waiving of rental fees for the Nick Smith Centre for their Christmas Market being held on November 1st, 2023.
Proclamations
Town Council approved proclamations for the following important dates:
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30th, 2023)
- Rett Syndrome Awareness Month (October 2023)
- Ontario Public Library Week (October 16th- 22nd, 2023)
