Summer Recreation Overview
Council received an overview of programming happening this summer in Arnprior. Get ready for all your favourite events such as Priorpalooza (June 1), Paddlefest (June 22), School's Out Beach Part (June 27), Canada Day (July 1), and Dragon Boat Festival (July 20)! Public Meeting – Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments - Bill 23 and Private Roads
Council held a public meeting to receive public input for Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments to reflect amendments to the Planning Act legislation. Changes include Additional Residential Unit (ADU) requirements; parkland conveyance changes; and changes to appeal rights. Amendments are also proposed to address private road policies. A staff report will be presented to Council shortly for their consideration on these matters.
Zoning By-law Amendment – Temporary Use - 10 William Street
Council received a staff report and adopted a By-law to allow for the temporary industrial use (3 years with possible extensions) at 10 William Street.
Capital Project – MacDonald Street Reconstruction Tender Award
Council considered the award of the MacDonald Street Reconstruction Project; however, the decision and enacting by-law were deferred to a Special Meeting of Council to be held on Thursday May 16th, 2024 at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers, Town Hall (105 Elgin Street West, Arnprior, ON K7S 0A8).
Proclamations and Resolutions
Council issued proclamations for the following important dates:
- June 2024 as Seniors Month in the Town of Arnprior, encouraging all citizens to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our seniors.
- June 2024 as Parks and Recreation Month in the Town of Arnprior, encouraging all citizens to recognize the benefits and values of Recreation and Parks in Arnprior and participate in the many activities taking place this month and throughout the year.
- June 2024 as Pride Month in the Town of Arnprior, encouraging all citizens to think about what steps we can collectively take to make our community a safe and inclusive place for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
- May 17th, 2024, as the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia in the Town of Arnprior, encouraging all residents to act to address homophobia and transphobia when they see it while also recognizing the many contributions that 2SLGBTQ+ peoples make to bolster our local community every day.
The following resolutions were passed:
- Arnprior Optimistic Women’s Club – Council approved a request for in-kind support through the waiving of fees for the rental of the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall for a Trivia Night Event which was held May 10th, 2024.
- PXO Installation at Baskin Drive and Leo Moskos Street – Council directed staff to apply to the County of Renfrew for the installation of a pedestrian cross-over (PXO) at the intersection of Baskin Drive and Leo Moskos Street.

- By-law Number 7485-24 – Zoning By-law Amendment – Temporary Use – 10 William Street
- By-law Number 7488-24 – Robert Simpson Park Canteen Lease Agreement
