Council Highlights - March 24, 2025

Zoning By-law 2/25 - 87 Claude Street

Council authorized the holding of a Public Meeting under the Planning Act on April 14th, 2025, with regard to a zoning by-law amendment for 87 Claude Street. The amendment would change the zoning of the subject property from Residential Two (R2) to Residential One (R1) in order to allow development of a single detached dwelling.

Tender Awards

  • MacDonald/Edey Reconstruction/ Vancourtland Street Rehabilitation/Installation of PXO on Baskin Drive
    Council awarded a tender to Tarstone Canada Ltd. in the amount of $3,039,900.87 for the reconstruction of a portion of MacDonald and Edey Streets and rehabilitation of Vancourtland Street, as well as the installation of a PXO crossing on Baskin Drive and extension of sidewalk. Work will begin shortly and conclude in the fall.
  • Public Works Garage Roof Replacement
    Council awarded a tender to Simluc Contractors, for a total of $125,148.00, for the replacement of roofing on the original section of the Public Works Garage located at 73 James Street.

Future Skateboard Park

Council approved the location of the new skatepark at 77 James Street on the vacant

land adjacent to and west of the entrance to the Nick Smith Centre and pre-committed the 2026 budget construction value of $250,000 in addition to the already committed $25,000 design budget, allowing for the procurement process (design-build) to proceed in 2025, with planned construction in 2026. The Town will continue to work with the Arnprior Skateboard Association and explore sponsorship opportunities moving forward.

Reports Received

Council received a report which summarizes the 2024 Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS) activities. The Town of Arnprior has an established Quality Management System (QMS) for its drinking water system. DWQMS is mandated through the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002 (SDWA) with the specific requirements for the QMS coming from the document titled “Ontario’s Drinking Water Quality Management Standard – Ver 2.0”.

Council also received the 2024 Annual Report - Arnprior Water Pollution Control Centre and Arnprior Drinking Water System. Also available at the Town Hall and on the Town’s website are the following reports:

Council passed the following proclamations:

911 Dispatcher Appreciation Week – April 13th to 19th, 2025

That the Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims April 13th to 19th, 2025 as 911 Dispatcher Appreciation Week in the Town of Arnprior and encourage all residents to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional service and commitment of our local 911 Dispatchers whose work is essential in maintaining the safety and well-being of our community.

World Autism Day – April 2nd, 2025

That the Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims April 2nd, 2025 as World Autism Day in the Town of Arnprior and encourages all residents to learn more about Autism, create a tie-dye shirt, and help promote awareness, acceptance and inclusivity in our community.
