Water Use By-law - Takuma Nakamura

Resident Takuma Nakamura explained to Council that the Town’s Water Use By-law (6802-18), Section 6.0 - Outdoor Water Use Restrictions alternates water use allowance based on address number (odd addresses on odd days, even addresses on even days) with exemptions for new grass, sod, or landscaping, use for municipal purposes, and car wash businesses. The By-law language restricts watering of vegetable and fruit gardens, plots, and trees. Mr. Nakamura presented a proposal to Council to amend Section 6.2 Exemptions by adding a new sub-section to exempt vegetable and fruit gardens, plots, and trees that are cultivated for the purposes of non-commercial personal use. Council agreed with this proposal and thanked Mr. Nakamura for this thoughtful presentation. Staff were directed to bring forward an amendment to the By-law at the next meeting.
