Council Highlights for January 8th, 2024

Employee Excellence Award
Council awarded the prestigious ‘Employee Excellence Award’ to Lucas Power, the Town’s Recreation Program and Events Coordinator. The Employee Excellence Award is granted to celebrate employees who demonstrate high degrees of service or employee excellence, and who go above and beyond with their contributions, achievements, or attributes in one or more award category. Congratulations to Lucas for this well-deserved recognition!
Budget Presentation
Staff presented Council with the draft 2024 Operating and Capital Budgets as well as the Long-Range Forecast and an overview of the Reserves and Reserve Fund. Budget deliberations will take place on Monday February 5th and Tuesday February 6th (if needed), at 5:00pm in Council Chambers.
Terms of Reference for Advisory Committees
Council has established three (3) Advisory Committees being: Accessibility and Age Friendly Advisory Committee; the Culture and Diversity Advisory Committee; and the Environmental Advisory Committee. Terms of References for each Committee were approved and staff were directed to proceed with advertising for members of the public to sit on each Committee. Please watch for details on how to apply on the Town’s website within the coming weeks. Committees are scheduled to begin meeting in March.
Resolutions
Council approved requests for in-kind support from the following:
- Arnprior Regional Health Foundation for the waiving of the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall rental fees for the 2024 Sock Hop Event to be held on February 3rd, 2024;
- Renfrew County 55+ Winter Games for waiving the Nick Smith Centre Arena and Community Hall rental fees for the 2024 Renfrew County 55+ Winter Games to be held in late January 2024;
- ontrac Employment Resources Services for waiving the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall rental fees for the 2024 ontrac Job Fair event to be held on March 21st, 2024.
