Council Highlights - April 8th, 2024

Official Plan Amendment #6, Zoning By-law Amendment 1/23 – 39 Winner’s Circle Drive

Council received notice that the applicant has withdrawn their application to amend the Official Plan policies and zoning by-law regulations for lands at 39 Winner’s Circle Drive. As a result, Council has directed staff to undertake a Commercial Needs Study which may result in Town-led Official Plan Amendments to address any gaps in the Town’s commercial land base.

Bill 23 and Private Road Policies

Council scheduled a Public Meeting to give the public an opportunity to make representations in respect to changes to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law to reflect amendments to the Planning Act legislation. Changes include Additional Residential Unit (ADU) requirements, parkland conveyance changes, and changes to appeal rights. Amendments are also proposed to address private road policies. Notice of the Public Meeting, to be held at Council on May 13th, 2024 at 6:30 PM, will be posted on the Town’s website and social media channels.

Tender Award - One-Ton Truck, Plow, Sander & Dump Box

Council authorized the purchase of a One-Ton Truck with plow, sander and dump box from Donnelly Automotive Group, for a total of $116,896.00 (plus HST).

Grant Application: Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund

Council direct staff to make an application, by April 19th, to the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF) grant program, for the proposed replacement of the Daniel Street / Albert Street Sanitary Sewer from Rock Lane to Ewen Street, Sewer Separation of the Albert Street Sewer system and replacement of the Albert Street watermain. The grant would provide up to 73% of the project costs, or $3,905,500, while the Town would be responsible for the other 27% of the project, or $1,444,500. The project would take place over 3 years.

Proclamations and Resolutions

  1. Council proclaimed April 22nd, 2024 as Earth Day in the Town of Arnprior. The Town has partnered with Earth Day Canada to offer a free 1hr virtual workshop, “I'm Reducing Food Waste”, which focuses on reducing food waste. It will be held on Earth Day (April 22nd, 2024) from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. You can register for this Zoom event through the Town’s Events Calendar.
  2. Council proclaimed April 14th to 20th, 2024 as 911 Dispatcher Appreciation Week in the Town of Arnprior.
  3. Council received the 2023 Annual Integrity Commissioner / Closed Meeting Investigator Report, which indicated that there were no complaints or investigations in the 2023 calendar year.
