September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Whereas, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, with 1 in 9 expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime, highlighting the need for increased awareness and support; and

Whereas, the Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa (PCSO) is a volunteer-led organization that helps men in Arnprior diagnosed with prostate cancer and supports men and families living with the disease while promoting public awareness; and

Whereas, throughout the month, PCSO will assist men in getting tested, conduct presentations and advertising campaigns, participate in awareness events and conduct virtual support group meetings.

Now Therefore, I, Lisa McGee, Mayor of Arnprior, do hereby proclaim September as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in the Town of Arnprior and encourage all residents to recognize and celebrate the lives of prostate cancer survivors and to ensure that all men over 50 have a discussion about prostate cancer testing with their medical practitioner.
