Nick Smith Centre Pool Closed October 5, 2026

Due to an unforeseen circumstance, the Nick Smith Centre has been closed and will reopen at 3:30 PM on October 5, 2026.

There was a medical emergency in our pool late Monday morning (October 5) involving a patron without vital signs. Our lifeguards responded immediately and were supported by recreation staff, firefighters, and paramedics. Despite extensive lifesaving efforts, the individual passed away.

We thank all staff and emergency responders who assisted during this difficult situation and our thoughts are with the individual’s family.

The Nick Smith Centre Pool will remain closed for the balance of the day, reopening on Tuesday morning.

Both arenas and the Community Hall will re-open at 3:30 pm.
