Town of Arnprior Celebrates Opening of First Off-Leash Dog Park
The Town of Arnprior’s first off-leash dog park officially opened this afternoon at McLean Park (153 McLean Avenue). This new space will provide dogs with a safe, welcoming place to run, play and socialize without a leash while their owners connect with fellow dog lovers in the community. The project was included in the Town's 2026 capital budget and represents the culmination of planning and community discussion that began in 2019.
“Off-leash dog parks are about much more than giving our four-legged friends a place to run. They create a space where people come together, build connections and join their neighbours and friends from the community,” said Mayor Lisa McGee. “As someone who frequently uses off-leash parks myself, I’m thrilled to see this amenity open up right here in Arnprior. This is a great addition to McLean Park for our growing community. I look forward to seeing residents and their dogs enjoying it for years to come.”
Located within McLean Park, the dog park offers convenient access to parking, public washrooms and water for dogs. Dog Park fencing is five feet high with a double gate entry system. Dog waste bags and waste receptacles are provided on-site. The park is half an acre in size.
“This has been an exciting summer as we continue to expand recreational amenities across Arnprior,” said Graeme Ivory, Director of Recreation, Culture and Facility Services. "Following the opening of the Kirk Orthodontics Skate Park in July, the addition of the dog park represents another completed recommendation from the 2024 Recreation and Parks Master Plan. These investments reflect feedback received through public engagement and help meet the evolving needs of our growing community."
