Canada Day Relocated

Wednesday's forecast is calling for high temperatures and humidity, along with a strong chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.  As such, the Town is relocating the Canada Day events planned for the Hydro Park East to the Nick Smith Centre at 77 James Street.

The venue may have changed, but there is still an afternoon of live music, family fun, and delicious food and drink to be had! Be sure to come early to have breakfast provided by the Lion’s Club from 8:00-11:00 am, then stick around from 12:00 – 5:00 pm and check out the live music, games and bouncy activities, get your face painted and hit the cool ice for hourly free ice skating on Bert Hall Arena.

A shuttle service is available this year. To help you get from place to place, the Town has provided a shuttle bus running from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The bus stop locations are listed below, with the shuttle running to each stop every 20 minutes:

1. Nick Smith Centre, 77 James Street
2. Pacific Safety Products, 124 Fourth Avenue
3. Arnprior Museum, 35 Madawaska Street
4. Robert Simpson Park, 400 John Street North
5. Galilee Centre, 394 John Street North
6. Corner of Bell and Madawaska Street

We want to thank the performers, vendors, service providers and staff for their flexibility and accommodations to ensure this much-anticipated annual event can take place.

Please note that the Optimist Club Optimist Bobby Legault Bike Parade will go as planned with registration starting at 10:30am, judging at 11:00am and leaving the parking lot of Pacific Safety Products (124 Fourth Avenue) at 11:30am. The parade finishes at Hydro Park East. The Rotary Duck Race will see the ducks dropped off the Madawaska Bridge at 2:00 pm. The Galilee Strawberry Social will be held at the Galilee Centre (398 John Street North) from 1:00-4:00 pm. Valley Flea will be held at the Arnprior Museum (35 Madawaska Street) from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

The Annual Fireworks are planned to be displayed off the island by the weir at dusk, roughly 9:45 pm. Your best viewpoint is Hydro Park East, 100 Madawaska Boulevard.
