Recreation and Parks month is a movement that promotes the benefits of recreation and parks for physical, social, and environmental health. Driven by Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO), communities across the Province have embraced June as Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM) as a way to promote local programs and events, parks and facilities that are available for all citizens to enjoy.
Access to park and recreation is a fundamental human need that helps foster personal health, strong communities, and social inclusion. JRPM celebrates Ontario's spectacular parks and recreation services and raises awareness for the role they play as a pathway to individual, community, and environmental well-being.
The Town of Arnprior takes this opportunity to recognize the benefits of recreation and parks and encouraging residents to get out and be active in our community.
Recreation and Parks Month in Arnprior will feature a variety of free and introductory programs and events throughout the 30 days of June.
We encourage all residents to make the most of Recreation and Parks month in your household by exploring the recreation facilities, programs, parks and trails that our beautiful town offers.
Visit
The Town of Arnprior is excited to bring back our popular campaign called ’Recreation Passport’. This campaign provides barrier free activities that foster strong mental, social and physical lifestyles.
Anyone who would like to participate in this campaign will receive a physical passport with a list of events. There will be pages for you to collect stamps from each event you attend. Whether you attend each event as a family, a group of friends or on your own, this is a great way to see what the community has to offer for recreation programs and to get active!
You can get your free passport at the Nick Smith Centre, Town Hall, Priorpalooza Music Festival, or at the Town Booth at the Sunday Market.

The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is a national physical activity initiative that encourages Canadians to get active in search of Canada’s Most Active Community. As a community we can participate in the challenge by downloading the ParticipACTION app and logging your hours spent being active as a member of Team Arnprior at our Recreation Passport events. These hours will go towards the community’s overall score and put us in the running for a top prize of $100,000 and the title of ‘Canada’s Most Active Community’.
Some of these events will take place in many of our beautiful parks, trails and beaches that the Town of Arnprior has to offer. These areas offer a variety of play structures, swing sets, basketball courts, waterfronts, open green space and more! Trails will allow you to explore many of the beautiful sites the Town of Arnprior has to offer, including our wildlife and one of the oldest growth forests in Canada! Be sure to check out our full list of parks, beaches, trails and more.
Thanks to our generous local sponsors, we are also able to run a contest for those who complete four or more of the Recreation Passport activities. For every additional four activities you will receive one extra ballot entry, giving you four total entries if you complete all 16 activities! Families can have separate ballots for everyone who competes so make sure each person has their own passport.
All you have to do is bring your stamped passport back to the Nick Smith Centre by July 10 at 9pm, and fill out your allotted ballots based on the amount of activities you completed. While everyone is welcome to participate in the programming, only Arnprior residents are eligible to win a prize.
The 3 prizes to be won are:
