There are various camps throughout Town in the summer including Camp Wanago, Library Camps, and Museum Camps!
Here is some information on the camps listed above.
Camp Wanago is a Monday through Friday camp run by the Town's Recreation Department. Primarily operating out of the Nick Smith Centre, campers will participate in various activities such as swimming, skating, arts & crafts, and activities relating to the theme of each week.
This camp runs from 8:30am-3:30pm with a late pick-up option until 4:30pm. Camp Wanago is open for ages 4-10 as of the start date of each week.
This is a safe and inclusive space and ran by our compliment of summer students who aim to foster a welcoming environment.

Where will Camp Wanago take place? |
Camp Wanago primarily operates out of the Nick Smith Centre on the slab of Glenn Arthur Arena as the ice is out for the summer.
Each Friday is an adventure day where we will be based out of a location closer to downtown Arnprior which will allow us to visit local parks and entertainment attractions.
The final two weeks of Camp Wanago (August 14-18, August 21-25) may operate out of another location in Arnprior as well to facilitate other Recreation programs at the Nick Smith Centre. This will be decided prior to registration opening in May. |
What will the campers be doing? |
While operating out of the Nick Smith Centre, we have access to the ice rinks and the swimming pool so you can expect to swim and skate quite often. Camp will primarily operate out of the arena slab on Glenn Arthur Arena as the ice is out for the summer on that pad. This large space provides lots of opportunity for bigger games and activities while also being close to many parks and trails for outdoor use.
Each week of Camp Wanago will have it's own theme. Previously, we've ran themes including Superhero Week, Sports Week, Around the World, and more! This will return in 2023 and will be established once our Camp Coordinator is brought on to plan the summer.
Friday is adventure day and we expect to operate out of a remote location closer to downtown Arnprior. This will allow us to visit some local attractions including parks and entertainment spaces. More details to follow once each week of camp is planned out. |
Do I have to register for all eight (8) weeks? |
No, you do not have to register for the entire summer. While you must register for the entirety of one week, you can choose to register for as many and whichever weeks of camp you choose. There is no day-to-day registration. |
What is the cost of camp? |
One week of Camp Wanago is $200 for residents and $300 for non-residents. The late pick-up option is $50 for the whole week. |
Is there financial assistance for Camp Wanago? |
Here are two options for financial assistance: 1. KidSport - a local organization that provides funding the families in our community to ensure all kids have an opportunity to participate in activities. 2. County of Renfrew Child Care and Early Years Division - Learn about their fee subsidy program. |
