Did you know? The Canadian Red Cross is winding down swimming lessons and lifeguard programs to focus on surging humanitarian demands in other areas.
What does this mean for you? As a result, the Town of Arnprior is transitioning from the Canadian Red Cross Swim program to the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program in January 2023.
Swim for Life is a complete learn-to-swim program from Parent & Tot through to Leadership. The program is endorsed by the International Life Saving Federation and the Commonwealth Royal Life Saving Society.
There are five modules in the Swim for Life program:
The Society designed the modules to flow together seamlessly and logically into one another and into the basic lifesaving awards: Rookie, Ranger and Star Patrol
Why is the Town transitioning to now offer Lifesaving Society Swim Programs? |
The Canadian Red Cross is shifting its priorities from its learn to swim programs to focusing on other areas such as disaster and pandemic response, opioid harm reduction and caregiving for seniors.
Recreation Staff have been working to ensure a smooth transition to this new model. |
