The NSC Arena Revitalization project kicked off on schedule on February 16th, 2025 beginning with Glenn Arthur Arena. Municipal staff worked overnight and through the holiday Monday to have the arena ready for the contractor to take over on Tuesday February 18th. Check out the first week of progress below.
As of the time of this update, boards, glass and spectator stands have been removed from Glenn Arthur Arena and repainting of roof trusses is underway. Prior to repaint, each roof truss had to be scraped, pressure washed and wiped down. Lead paint removal is part of the scope of this project so safety procedures have been implemented to protect both workers and the general public in adjacent areas to the construction site. Regular air testing in public areas is occuring through a third-party consultant.
Some selective demolition has already started on Bert Hall Arena though ice removals started overnight on March 15th and construction will be underway on the second arena beginning Monday March 17, 2025.
Any item that can be salvaged for resale from this project will be posted to https://www.govdeals.ca/arnprioron and/or advertised to other arenas in the coming weeks to generate revenue to offset the cost of this project. Boards from both arenas and the scoreboard from Glenn Arthur Arena have already been sold through competitive bidding.
