Delegation – Alectra Energy Solutions Solar Project
Representatives from Alectra Energy Solutions and Kruger Energy presented a proposed 10 MW solar project, to be located at the Arnprior Airport. The project would require approximately 40 to 50 acres of land. They explained that they are undertaking engagements with Algonquins of Ontario, offering a 50% equity stake in the project. They are also offering $2,000 per MW awarded, per year, to Arnprior as a community benefit. Wherever possible, they look to hire local for the development of the project, and on-going maintenance. Additional community engagement and public consultation will be part of the development and approvals process. More information can be found in the presentation slide deck here.
Presentation – Fire Department Thanks to Community Partners
Fire Chief Rick Desarmia introduced the Fire Safety workbooks for ages 5 to 7 and 7 to 11 being provided to children in our local schools and extended a sincere thank you to everyone who helped make important safety initiative possible. Veterans Crosswalk
As Veterans Week is being celebrated across Canada, Council approved that the crosswalk now in operation at John Street North and Ewen Street be named in memory of Veterans of Arnprior and surrounding community and further that the Town maintain this crosswalk with the appropriate painting of red and white lines. Signage identifying the crosswalk will be installed shortly.
Daniel and Albert Street Construction Project Award
Council awarded Tender PW-2025-03 for the Daniel and Albert Street Sanitary Sewer Upsizing & Reconstruction of Albert Street Project to Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited for $6,267,310.12 (Incl HST) and the contract for Contract Administration and Inspection to Jp2g Consultants Inc. for $314,682.40 (Incl HST). Council will also enter into a Construction and Access License and Lease Agreement with Renfrew County Housing Corporation (RCHC) to reconstruct the existing sanitary sewer across a portion of RCHC lands located at 8 Burwash Street as part of the project. Funding for the full construction project value of $5,927,288 (net HST) with funding from the following sources: $3,765,650 grant funding from the Province of Ontario’s Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), $296,364 Development Charge Reserve Fund, $932,637 Capital Expenditure Reserve Fund, $466,319 Water Reserve Fund and $466,319 Wastewater Reserve Fund.
Chats Lake Community Boat Club Lease Agreement
Council authorized a renewal of the Lease Agreement with the Chats Lake Community Boat Club for the use of a portion of Bell Park, for a two-year term (July 1,2025 to June 30, 2027) for the purpose of a Community Boat Club, as a club house and for docking and related activities, including youth programming.
National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
Council proclaimed September 30th, 2025 be recognized as the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day) in the Town of Arnprior and encourage all Members of Council, staff and residents wear orange as a sign of respect and to honour the thousands of survivors of residential schools.
Joint Use Library Agreement Amended
Council passed a by-law amending the Joint Use Library Agreement to reflect revised methodology for the 2026-2030 term. The Municipal Library Joint Use Committee, consisting of Arnprior Mayor Lisa McGee, McNab/Braeside Councillor Jill Campbell, Library Board Chair Josee Scott and Library Board member Shane Kramer, recommended changes to the methodology to reflect an annual operating cap adjustment for CPI (less energy) with a minimum 2% threshold and that the base operating costs be increased to include an additional 1.0 FTE equivalent.
