Strong Mayor Information Report
Council received a report from the Chief Administrative Officer outlining the Strong Mayor legislation set to take effect in Arnprior on May 1st, 2025. Strong Mayor Powers have been implemented in varying ways around Ontario. Strong Mayor Powers include unilateral authority regarding the administrative and political structure of the Town and include provisions designed to enable the Mayor to advance prescribed Provincial priorities. Those priorities are described as:
1. Building 1.5 million new residential units by December 31, 2031.
2. Constructing and maintaining infrastructure to support housing, including,
i. transit,
ii. roads,
iii. utilities, and
iv. servicing.
The Mayor will be required to propose the annual Town budget by February 1st each year. Strong Mayor powers are implemented and exercised through Mayoral decisions which will be posted on the Town’s website and communicated through the Town’s various channels.

Museum Month – May 2025
Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims May 2025 as Museum Month in the Town of Arnprior and encourages all residents and visitors to drop into the Arnprior and District Museum and explore through the Museum’s social media to find out ways to join in this month and all year long!
Sexual Assault Awareness Month and “We Stand with Survivors” Campaign – May 2025
Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims May 2025 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the Town of Arnprior and urge all residents of our community to learn more about sexual assault, abuse and violence and become active participants in eliminating these crimes.
First Responders Day – May 1st 2025
Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims May 1st, 2025 as “First Responders Day” in the Town of Arnprior and urges all residents to thank those individuals who have dedicated their lives to keeping our community and homes safe and protected.
Emergency Preparedness Week – May 4th to 10th, 2025
Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims May 4th to 10th, 2025 as Emergency Preparedness Week in the Town of Arnprior and encourages all residents to learn more about preparing for an emergency (know the risks, make a plan, get an emergency kit) and understand the importance of emergency preparedness.
Resolutions:
Council approved a request for waiving the boat launching fees at the Marina for 25 boats for the Lions Club International for the Blind Anglers International Tournament (BAIT) to be held on May 31st, 2025.
