Fire Department 2024 Annual Report
Council received a presentation from Fire Chief Rick Desarmia on the 2024 activities of the Fire Department, including number of calls, response times and training status.
Zoning By-law 2/25 - 87 Claude Street
Council held a Public Meeting under the Planning Act, about a zoning by-law amendment for 87 Claude Street. The amendment would change the zoning of the subject property from Residential Two (R2) to Residential One (R1) in order to allow development of a single detached dwelling. Following the public meeting, Council passed a by-law to change the zoning as requested.
Zoning By-law 4/25 – Marshall’s Bay Meadows Phases 5A & 5B
Council received an application for amendments to the zoning provisions of the lands within Phases 5A & 5B of the Marshall’s Bay Meadows Subdivision. A public meeting is scheduled for May 12th, 2025 during the regular meeting of Council to allow for public comment.
Zoning By-law 7/24 – Sawmill Flats Phase 3, Jack Crescent
Council received an application for amendments to the zoning provisions of the lands at Phase 3 of the Sawmill Flats development on Jack Crescent. A public meeting is scheduled for May 12th, 2025 during the regular meeting of Council to allow for public comment.
Gaumond Bequest Funding Application – Arnprior & District Humane Society
Council approved a request for $5,640 to assist the Arnprior & District Humane Society with costs from a recent flood experienced at the non-profit animal shelter.
Retirement – Scott Matthews (Waterworks Supervisor)
On behalf of Council and staff, Mayor McGee recognized Scott Matthews who has supervised the Waterworks Department for the past 5 years. During his time with the Town of Arnprior, Scott made many improvements to the Town’s waterworks facilities and processes and played a key role in the development of detailed building condition assessment reports for both the Water Filtration Plant and Water Pollution Control Centre, building a strong basis for the Town’s asset management plans over the next twenty years. Council and Staff wish Scott the best in his retirement.
Award - M.G. Griffiths Cup for 2024
Town of Arnprior Aquatic and Facility Services Supervisor, Kasia Trautrim, proudly accepted the M.G. Griffiths Cup for 2024 at the Lifesaving Society’s Annual General Meeting and Award Banquet last week. This is an award presented annually to the municipal affiliate with the largest lifesaving program in a community with a population under 10,000.
The Lifesaving Society annually recognizes Affiliate Members who deliver the Society's training programs, promote Water Smart® public education, and raise funds in support of the Society's drowning prevention mission. Most recognition awards are presented based on points earned. Point values reward affiliates who offer a full menu of lifesaving programs and reflect the relative degree of difficulty or amount of training and effort required to achieve each level including the programming time commitment. The Town of Arnprior also ranked 8th in the entire province on a per capita basis.

That the Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims May 25th to May 31st, 2025, as National AccessAbility Week in the Town of Arnprior and encourage all residents to learn more about Accessibility and Inclusion, wear a red shirt on May 28th, 2025, and help promote awareness, acceptance and inclusivity in our community.
Earth Day – April 22nd, 2025
That the Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims April 22nd, 2025, as Earth Day in the Town of Arnprior, and encourage all residents to participate in the Earth Day activities being provided, learn more and understand their role in assisting to combat climate change, as well as make a positive impact on the environment on Earth Day and every day.
Community Living Month – May 2025
That the Council of the Town of Arnprior proclaims May 2025 as Community Living Month in the Town of Arnprior, and encourage all residents to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Community Living Renfrew County South.
Resolutions:
Council approved a request for waiving the rental fees associated with the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall for the Arnprior Women’s Optimistic Club’s Annual Ladies Night Event to be held on May 10th, 2025.
Council also approved a request for waiving the rental fees associated with the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall for the Renfrew County 4-H Association’s Cooking with Dairy Club event to be held on May 24th, 2025.
