Winter Control

The Town wishes to remind residents and businesses that the depositing of snow or ice from private property onto a municipal sidewalk or roadway is prohibited under the Use and Care of Roads By-Law 6586-16, and violators may be subject to fines. The Town thanks you for your cooperation in keeping our roads and sidewalks clean and safe this winter

Sidewalk Priority Winter Maintenance Routes

The Town of Arnprior provides priority sidewalk winter maintenance on specific roadways within the municipality. Currently, the Town has designated approximately 22 kilometers of sidewalks as priority sidewalks, which are typically plowed into the road after a storm by Town sidewalk plows and picked up within the following two to three nights. The Town also has approximately 25 kilometers of roads with non-priority sidewalks which are cleared with the wing of the road plow until such time as the snow can no longer be pushed back. Snowbanks are then removed subject to operational resource availability.

The following roads receive priority sidewalk maintenance on both sides of the roadway:

McGonigal Street West from Daniel Street North to John Street North

Elgin Street West
Madawaska Street
Madawaska Boulevard from Sheffield Street to the Madawaska River Bridge
Daniel Street North
James Street
Daniel Street North
James Street
Daniel Street South from William Street West to Winner’s Circle Drive / Staye Court Drive
White Lake Road from Winner’s Circle Drive / Staye Court Drive to the southerly end of the Highway 417 corridor
Edey Street from Daniel Street South to Edward Street South

The following roads receive priority sidewalk maintenance on one side of the roadway:
