Garbage

We provide curbside residential waste collection services to Arnprior residents in accordance with the Solid Waste Management By-Law.

Time & Placement

Garbage must be placed curbside by 7:00 am on the day of collection (9:30 am in the downtown core), but not earlier than 7:00 pm on the previous evening.
During winter months, please do not place garbage bags/containers behind, on top, or in the side of snow banks.
We also encourage residents to opt for darker coloured bags or to use a container during the winter season as white bags can easily blend into the snow, making them challenging for out collection teams to spot.
Ensure all garbage is bagged and securely tied, even if it is in garbage cans.

Restrictions

Large items (stoves, refrigerators, furniture, mattresses, hot water tanks, automobile parts, scrap metal) will not be collected from the curbside. These items may be disposed of at the Arnprior Waste Disposal Site. Tipping fees apply.
Garbage will not be collected if it contains recyclables, large quantities of dog or cat feces, items not properly contained, loose ashes and/or sawdust, Household Hazardous Waste, is overweight, oversized, over the limit, or contains Leaf & Yard Waste.
Any loose garbage will not be collected.

Bags, Containers, Sizes, Weights, & Limits

Maximum of Two (2) Bags Every Week
The maximum weight for each Bag or Container is 50 lbs (22.7 kg)
All Overweight Bags/Containers will not be collected
The maximum sized Bag – approximately 26” x 32” and Container – approximately 67 L
All oversized bags/containers must be tagged with a garbage bag tag.
The disposal of extra garbage at the curbside (above 2 bags) require garbage bag tags.

How to Use Bag Tags

Did you know that you can buy garbage bag tags so that you can put more than two (2) bags out occasionally when you need to or if you have an oversized bag/container? They are simple to use:

Purchase your bag tags at Town Hall, the Nick Smith Centre or the Arnprior Public Library for $3.00 each (per bag).
Peel off the adhesive backing and stick them on your extra bags. Remember that you are permitted to have two (2) bags per week already so only place bag tags on the extra bags (3+).
Place all of your bags at the curb before 7:00 AM on your garbage day. Make sure that your garbage bag tags are clearly visible to the collection teams so that they know that they can collect the extra bags.
