The Marina Attendant is a seasonal part-time position reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor within the Recreation Department.
The primary responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Provide customer service to seasonal/transient boaters by assisting users with the facilities and tying up and casting off boats.
- Answer general inquiries and provide information about Marina facilities, rates, Town services, events, amenities, and/or tourist attractions.
- Correctly follow pump out and gas procedures when servicing boaters.
- Keep up to date fuel records in compliance with Marina procedure(s) and the Gasoline Handling Code.
- Provide general administrative support by collecting and monitoring receipt of payments for gasoline, dock, transient slips, and boat launches, and by maintaining records, filling in registration forms, and submitting daily reports.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the Marina grounds and buildings at all times including cleaning the pier and shore area, emptying garbage, cleaning washrooms, keeping the guard shack tidy, etc.
- Oversee the Marina operations are safe, secure, and maintain a positive environment for visitor(s) by conducting regular checks to ensure all boats are tied securely, ensuring docks are safe, questioning any unauthorized personnel and/or visitors, and by reporting any unsafe conditions to the Supervisor.
- Perform daily inspections of Marina grounds, surrounding waterfront areas, property and facilities, and report any and all deficiencies to the Operations Supervisor, and undertake minor repairs, painting and maintenance as required.
- Perform weekly yard work, including but not limited to garbage collection, weeding, and trimming, lawn cutting and other related maintenance.
- Perform work in accordance with applicable Provincial and Municipal legislations and regulations including the Gasoline Handling Code, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, corporate strategy, and in accordance with internal policies and procedures of the Town.
- Protect own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, using personal protective equipment as required by the nature of the position, and attending all relevant in-services training regarding occupational health and safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum completion of Grade 12.
- Previous experience providing customer services independently or in a team environment.
- Previous experience handling cash and understanding of related clerical procedures for preparing receipts, deposits, and balancing cash, etc.
- Knowledge of providing customer services and being able to assess needs to meet effective service delivery standards.
- Ability to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (Criminal Record Check) in accordance with Town Policy.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and unsupervised.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times when dealing with volunteers and the public.
- Physically capable to perform general labour and maintenance duties including operating of small equipment and other tools.
- Capable of following safe work practices and procedures.
- Ability to read, understand, and explain regulations, policies, or procedures related to Marina operations.

Asset Qualifications
- First Aid and CPR-AED Certification preferred.
- Previous experience with gas handling, knowledge of WHMIS 2015, basic occupational health and safety knowledge would be an asset.
