Wage: $18.67 – $21.97 per hour
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor the part-time Facility Attendant will support and assist full-time facility operators and custodial staff to keep Municipal buildings and equipment maintained, clean, secure, ready and respectable for public use.
The primary responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Responsible for cleanliness of all areas of the facility, including but not exclusive to: arenas, spectator seating, pool deck, arena and pool change rooms, washrooms, community hall, kitchen, bar, corridors and lobbies, boardrooms, meeting rooms, public spaces, staff offices, storage areas, workshops and staff areas.
- Assist full-time custodial staff to keep Municipal buildings clean, secure, ready and respectable for public use.
- Assist Facility Operators with ice resurfacing, removing nets, cleaning benches and basic ice maintenance.
- Take direction from Operations Supervisor and/or full-time Custodian for the coordination of daily cleaning tasks which will include, but are not limited to, snow removal, ensuring the safe use of cleaning chemicals, clean washrooms, clean windows, dust furniture, collection and disposal of trash, recycling, etc.
- Operate custodial equipment such as a vacuum, floor buffer, mop/pail, broom and other resources as required.
- Perform opening and closing facility procedures.
- Perform custodial duties, general maintenance and repairs tasks throughout the facility.
- Provide information to the public and monitor functions to ensure building security is maintained and the rental contract is adhered to.
- Accurately maintains daily records for the purpose of tracking and reporting maintenance activities.
- Responsible for maintaining/stocking cleaning supply inventory and request new supplies as needed.
- Assist with the set up and tear down of events and activities, and/or with the cleanliness and general maintenance of the pool facilities and/or arenas.
- Provide general security of the Municipal buildings where work tasks are assigned by reporting any unsafe conditions, damage, and/or vandalism to the Operations Supervisor.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of:
- Some completion of high school and/or equivalent. Preference may be given to applicants who have completed high school or equivalent.
- 3+ months similar working experience.
- Basic knowledge of facility cleaning procedures, general knowledge of building maintenance practices and the aptitude for minor repairs.
- General understanding of WHMIS legislation.
- Ability to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (Criminal Record Check)
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate tactfully, effectively and in a professional manner.
- Physically capable to perform general cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Capable of following safe work practices and procedures.
Asset Qualifications
- First Aid and CPR-AED Certification preferred.
- Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license.
- Previous occupational health and safety knowledge would be an asset.
- High Five Certifications
- Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (ORFA) certification
