ARNPRIOR, ON – The Town of Arnprior is thrilled to announce the launch of a new membership-based recreation program – the Older Adults Club – following a successful application to the Province of Ontario’s Seniors Community Grant Program. The Town has received $20,247.00 in grant funding to create this program that will span September 2025 through March 2026.
This project aims to keep adults 55+ active through recreational sports and social activities. The monthly membership fee of $10, provides an all-access pass to various sport and social programs. The program will host one event per month in the form of a workshop or webinar that will help provide resources to topics relevant and chosen by the program participants. Additionally, this membership provides discounted access ($1.00 off) to popular drop-in programs such as seniors swims and pickleball.
This funding will also provide two kiosks in the Nick Smith Centre that participants can use to register for programs, view schedules and access their accounts to remove digital barriers to participation.
“The Town of Arnprior is grateful to the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility for their generous support in helping launch this new program that provides greater opportunity to keep our older adults physically, mentally and socially active in our community,” said Mayor Lisa McGee.
“I’m grateful to see the Town of Arnprior receiving support through the Province of Ontario’s Seniors Community Grant Program to launch the new Older Adults Club. This initiative will help keep older adults in our region active, connected, and engaged through recreational and social programming. Investments like this strengthen the well-being of our seniors and build a more inclusive, vibrant community for everyone,” said MPP Billy Denault, Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.
“The Seniors Community Grant Program is helping protect the well-being of seniors by providing opportunities to stay active, connected and engaged. We are honoured to support the Older Adults Club on an initiative that demonstrates Arnprior’s commitment to healthy aging by providing programming that will open doors to new experiences, friendships and activities for seniors to thrive,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility.
Ahead of the programs launch in September, the Town has launched a survey to gather important information such as timing, themes and topics to shape the programming offered. The full schedule and registration will launch in early-August followed by the marketing and awareness campaign.
