Whereas Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurological disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls and leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of the individual's life. Whereas, the Town of Arnprior is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living in and visiting Arnprior, as fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, and homes are the locations where people are at greatest risk from fire; and
Whereas, Arnprior’s residents should identify places in their home where fires can start and eliminate those hazards; and
Whereas, working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in reported home fires in half; and

On behalf of Council and staff of the Town of Arnprior, I would like to congratulate Darrel O’Shaughnessy on being a recipient of the Ontario Senior Achievement Award. The Ontario Senior Achievement Awards recognize people who have made outstanding contributions to their communities through voluntary or professional activities after the age of 65.
Darrel certainly is an outstanding member of our senior community through his many voluntary positions. He is the Chair of the Greater Arnprior Seniors...

Whereas the Truth and Reconciliation Commission released its final report on June 2, 2015, which included 94 Calls to Action to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of Canadian reconciliation;
And Whereas the recent discoveries of remains and unmarked graves across Canada have led to increased calls for all levels of government to address the recommendations in the TRC’s Calls to Action;
And Whereas all Canadians and all orders of government have a role to play in reconciliation;

On behalf of Council and staff of the Town of Arnprior, I wish to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jeanette Grant. Jeanette, who passed away earlier this week, was a long-standing member of the Library Board. She was also awarded the Town’s Volunteer of the Year award in 2018 in acknowledgment of the valuable volunteer work she did for our community. We are grateful for her dedication to the Town and its residents.
