2011 Budget Information

 

What do we get for our tax dollar? The budget provides for vital services such as police, fire, roads, water and sewer, garbage and recycling.  Your tax dollars are at work providing facilities and services important to the town; these include: parks, library, museum, planning & government services,  Nick Smith Centre and other recreational programming. The town also contributes money to support the airport, archives, Humane Society, and local community programs.

When are water and tax bills due? Water bills are sent out four times per year (every three months) January, April, July and October.  Water meters are read with the exception of the January bill which is an estimated billing.  

Tax bills are sent out twice a year.  There are two installments on each billing.  The first billing is sent out the first week of February and includes the May installment.  The final billing is sent out the first week of August and includes the November installment.  

Due dates are the last working day of February, May, August and November.  Town Hall accepts payment by  cash or cheques.  Payments are also accepted at local banks, telebanking and online banking.

Can I make online payments? Tax and water payments can now be made online through most local banks.  Check with your bank to see if you must first set up your Internet account with them directly before you go online.

Once online, should you encounter problems setting up your water account number, please enter two zeros (00) in front of your account number for a total of nine digits.  Your account number can be located on the top right-hand corner of your bill.  For tax account payments, please use your roll number.  This number starts with 4702, followed by another series of 12 numbers (000 00000 0000) These last twelve numbers are what the Town requires to identify your property.
