Why do zoning by-law amendments take 2 or 3 months to process ?

The timing for processing a zoning by-law amendment, or any other planning application, is regulated by the Planning Act of Ontario which sets out the steps which must be followed. Public consultation plays an important part in the review and approval of all types of applications and therefore the process is designed to ensure that the public is given the opportunity to review the proposal and provide comments to Council.  The process requires 20 days notice of public meetings and 20 days of appeal period.  Planning Department
