Development Charge By-law

By-Law # 5394-05

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Town of Arnprior passed By-law #5394-05, being a By-law for the imposition of Development Charges, on the 28th day of November, 2005, pursuant to the Development Charges Act, 1997.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: This Development Charge By-law has been passed to ensure that the capital cost of meeting growth-related demands for, or burdens on, municipal services does not place an excessive financial burden on the Town of Arnprior or its existing taxpayers, while at the same time ensuring new taxpayers contribute no more than the net capital cost attributable to providing the current level of municipal services. The Development Charges Act, 1997, provides that the Council of the Town may impose development charges against land to pay for increased capital costs required because of increased need for services. The By-law applies to all land within the Town of Arnprior .

AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that any person or organization may appeal this Development Charge By-law to the Ontario Municipal Board, under section 14 of the Act, by filing with the Clerk of the Town of Arnprior on or before  January 9th, 2006, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons supporting the objection.

The amount of the development charge and the cost per type of development are as follows:

Rates for Residential, Industrial and Commercial uses are scheduled to increase each year as set out in Schedule “B” to the By-law #5394-05.

A copy of the complete Development Charge By-law is available for examination at the Town Hall during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. , Monday to Friday at 105 Elgin Street West.
